Opera Talkback: Laurence Senelick Discusses The Island of Tulipatan
Following Saturday evening's performance of The Island of Tulipatan, stage director David Gately will moderate a talkback with Jacques Offenbach scholar Laurence Senelick, professor emeritus at Tufts University. Senelick, whose works include Jacques Offenbach and the Making of Modern Culture; The Changing: Sex, Drag, and Theater; and Lovesick: Modernist Plays of Same-Sex Love, 1894–1925, will discuss Offenbach's engagement with gender-expansive ideas.
